Attorney Information

The information on this page pertains to attorneys practicing in the Northern District of Florida. Attorneys who wish to file a case in the Northern District of Florida must first obtain a PACER login and be admitted to the Northern District of Florida Bar so they can file documents with the Court electronically. Please note that electronic filing of documents is mandatory in the Northern District of Florida. Attorney Admission - for Florida Bar Members and Government Attorneys


Attorneys seeking admission to the Northern District of Florida Bar must complete the following steps.

  1. Review the Attorney Admission Memo
  2. Review the Local Rules of the Northern District Florida
  3. Complete the online Attorney Admission Tutorial
  4. Review the CM/ECF Attorney User's Guide
  5. Use these instructions to complete the Attorney Admissions Registration request in PACER.
    Once you submit your Attorney Admission/E-File registration request, it will go to the Attorney Admissions Clerk for processing.
  6. After the clerk verifies your completion of the Attorney Admission Tutorial and your Florida Bar status, you will receive an email with instructions to pay the admission fee electronically using the Northern District of Florida’s Bar Admission link. The fee is waived for government attorneys.
  7. After paying the attorney admission fee, you must reply to the email and notify the clerk that your fee has been paid.
  8. When the "fee paid" email is received, the clerk will enable your e-filing privileges and email you an electronic certificate of admission

The Northern District of Florida does not have renewal fees.

Pro Hac Vice Admission - for Non-Florida Bar Members


Attorneys seeking pro hac vice admission to the Northern District of Florida must complete the following steps.

Attorneys should file their own Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice after their pro hac vice admission registration is processed. Local counsel is not required.

  1. Review the Attorney Admission Memo
  2. Review the Local Rules of the Northern District Florida
  3. Complete the online Attorney Admission Tutorial
  4. Review the CM/ECF Attorney User's Guide
  5. Use these instructions to complete your Pro Hac Vice Registration request in PACER.
    Once you submit your Pro Hac Vice registration request, it will go to the Attorney Admissions Clerk for processing.
  6. After the clerk verifies your completion of the Attorney Admission Tutorial and verifies you are in good standing with the bar of the jurisdiction where you reside or regularly practice law, you will receive an email with instructions to e-file your Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice. If you need to initiate a new case, e-file the complaint, first, and then immediately e-file your Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice.
  7. The pro hac vice fee is collected at the time of filing your Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice.

Once you are registered, it is not necessary to register again for future cases in our district. Use your PACER credentials to file your new Motion to Appear Pro Hac Vice, include your original tutorial confirmation number in the motion, and attach a certificate of good standing dated within 30 days of the date you file the motion.
